Relive the ancient merchant fair with Acapulco’s shopping and culture.

Acapulco was a central trade route for ships passing from the Orient to Europe. The exposure to international luxuries paved the way for Acapulco’s inspiring culture.

Regional and local handicrafts are famous for their Taxco silver and black Oaxaca pottery. Acapulco shops and galleries showing with pride the best selection of handicrafts. Visit them and you will surely find the perfect gift or memento. For example, Taxco silver with Aztec jade are famous in the region around Acapulco. If you want to make a trip to Taxco, you can see the stunning Santa Prisca Cathedral built from the wealth from the silver industry.

The town of Acapulco, located about 20 minutes by car from Mayan Palace Acapulco, offers pristine beaches, lively cantinas and restaurants, water sports, and an extensive shopping zone for finding the perfect vacation souvenir. You do not want to miss the Golden Zone of the beaches. The sun is shining, the bay is calm, and the drinks are chilled.

Situated on the opposite side of the bay, a once-in-a-lifetime experience awaits. La Quebrada is a spectacle that every adventurous person would want to see. These daring men and women dive off of 100 meter cliffs and perfectly time the landing with the rolling of the tides. It is scary, exciting, and mystifying.

Excursion Planning Services

A once bustling town full of silversmiths, Taxco became a popular tourist stop for many Acapulco travelers. Built on the fortune of the silver demand, William Spratling opened the first cooperative silver shop. This silver shop grew into a silversmith town. Taxco’s silver fortune built Santa Prisca Cathedral which you cannot miss when to arrive in Taxco. Once you get to the town, you can stroll through the winding streets and peer into silversmith shops. It is great afternoon adventure.

Xochicalco is a cultural experience that enlightens visitors on the historical depth and advancement of the Mesoamerican people. You can tour the museum describing that advancement of the times as well as giving you an overview of the United Nations World Heritage site. The must sees are the Pyranmid of Quetzalcoatl, the Temple of the Steles, the Ceremonial Plaza and the Ramp of the Animals. To see everything, two hours should be allotted. There is a snack bar there for refreshments and restrooms.

Shopping

A tourist destination would not be complete without the ease of buying original articles not found anywhere else.In this respect, Acapulco shops have the best shopping opportunities.

Located on the resort property, the Jade Boutique is a must visit for shoppers. From hand blown glasses to precious gem stones, the Jade Boutique Nuevo Vallarta is a step above most resort boutiques. There are fabulous bathing suits and cover ups for men, women and children, Guayavera shirts for big and small as well as every imaginable type of sunscreen, sunhat and sand toy. Make time to shop at the Jade Boutique before venturing out to the local towns. The prices at Jade are comparable and sometimes better, and they are happy to ship things home – which is wonderful, especially if it is heavy. 



Tobacco Shop
