What better time to spend with family than at the beach! Mayan Palace Riviera Maya welcomes families of all sizes and ages. There is plenty of adventure ahead of you with nature walks through the jungle, vast beaches of endless snorkeling, shimmery water in the activities pool, and delicious dining experiences.

Browse through the listing of activities and offerings. You know your family the best so you can maximize your time in the sun!

Beach Fun – the Mayan Palace beach front is home to the second largest reef in the world.  You don’t want to miss the experience of the reef and the wildlife. Round up a game of beach volleyball or bocce ball for afternoon fun. The long covered dock welcomes you to watch the fish feeding on the coral or watch the sun set of the Mayan Palace palm trees. For the younger kiddos, beach digging is quite a hit. The drift wood, sea shells, and little critters are daily entertainment as well as building sand castles!

Pool Paradise – Jump feet first into the expansive Mayan Palace pool. Choose from the lounge seats, playing water volleyball, wading in the shallow end, or sit at the pool side bar. There is a water activity for everyone one! Even try the water aerobics class where Mayan Palace staff combines exercise and the pool for a full and refreshing work out. While you are not in the water, enjoy access to the pool snack bar for a refreshing drink or the arts area for activities.

Nature Trek – Put on your flip flops or your walking shoes as you explore the jungle and mangroves of Riviera Maya. You can find the iguanas, flamingos, birds, trees, and plants surround you at the Mayan Palace. Each are a part of the natural habitat to the Riviera Maya region. Don’t forget to spot the agave plant which produces Mexico’s finest tequila. If you are interested in the distance that you cover, the whole nature trek is over 6,000 steps (close to 3 miles). Get you daily exercise as you wonder!

Inside the Jade Boutique, there are some air-conditioned options for your family. While you surf the internet, let your kids roam in the video arcade, shop for souvenirs, Mayan Palace memorabilia and groceries. A Mayan Palace favorite is the tasty gelato offered at the Jade Deli.

Golfing and tennis are also ideal activities for youth and adult alike. Lessons with a trained professional are available for an applicable fee. The golf course is an executive course not too long but not too short to challenge a father so pair.

NATURE TREKS

Daily nature hikes to view the Flamingos in the Flamingaria, the crocodiles in the three different enclosures and the iguanas that line the walking paths make an otherwise ordinary walk to the beach or pool a true adventure. Children who especially enjoy trekking will want to sign up for an adventure hike to learn about these animals and their habitats.

TURTLE HATCHERY

Mayan Palace Riviera Maya enjoys a unique proximity to one of the most amazing rituals in nature – the hatching of the sea turtles. During the season, the mother turtle buries her eggs in the middle of the night to protect them from predators. The staff at Mayan Palace Riviera Maya digs them up each morning and puts them into a safe and certified hatchery. Then, when they are ready to swim back out to sea, the baby turtles are released one at a time. Guests are frequently invited to participate in this amazing rite of passage.

Each guest is given a turtle to take to the edge of the water and let it swim out to sea, setting out on its new adventure, the quest for survival. As nature is unpredictable, the days for doing this may not be scheduled in advance, but our staff invites guests so to join us in this magical moment and be a part of Mayan Palace Riviera Maya’s commitment to work in favor of the environment. All guests are invited.

And – should you wish to leave the property – the neighboring marina and town of Playa del Carmen provides a wealth of additional fun from viewing the magical sand sculptures in town to shopping to boat rental and sporting excursions. Whatever it is your children find interesting – just let us know and we will help make arrangements for you.

GOLF – FOR THE FAMILY

El Manglar is an 18-hole par 54; 2,923 yard course that combines pearly white sand traps and natural stone around its two lakes to create intense greens. This course on the Mayan Riviera is a delight for the golf enthusiast. As part of the extraordinary natural panoramas, the lakes and natural vegetation of the Mayan jungle surround all 18 holes – including a crocodile enclosure. All 18 holes provide their own unique obstacles to overcome.
